Stres



It is defined as a state of extreme difficulty, pressure, or strain.According to Gatchel & Baum(1983), it is the process by which the individual responds to environmental and psychological events that are perceived as threatening or challenging.

However, there are instances wherein stress becomes negative or unhealthy. It is an unpleasant stress that interferes with one's life and makes one unhappy, dissatisfied and sick. Such is also known as "distress". It is what many usually means when they refer to 'stress'. Stressors are the cause of distress. 

Somewhat Stressful
  • Arguing with a brother or sister.
  • Going to a new school
  • Getting glasses or braces
  • Moving to a new home
  • Arguing with a parent
  • Parent losing a job
  • Worry over weight, height or acne
  • Getting arrested
Extremely Stressful
  • Family members having a serious illness
  • Loss or death of a pet
  • Quitting or being suspended in school 
  • Starting to use alcohol/drugs
  • Death of a love one
  • Divorce or separation of parent
  • Failing in school
  • Getting in trouble in school
